United Way Reaches $400,000 Mark

At a recent November 2012 report meeting for the United Way of Whiteside County, it was announced by Chris Mitchell, Campaign Co-chair, that the campaign has reached the $400,000 mark.

Rock Falls High School held “The Zombie Shuffle”: a run for your life 5K on Saturday, October 20.  The proceeds from the run went towards a scholarship for Rock Falls High School and a $1,000 donation for the United Way of Whiteside County.

To date, the fundraising campaign has had many success stories.

  • Regional Office of Education had an increase in their giving of 41%.
  • Challand Junior High went up 52%.
  • Jefferson School went up 78%.
  • SBM had donations up 35%.
  • Wahl Clipper employees and corporate donations are up 19%.
  • Many other successes have been noted.

Employee presentations has been made by United Way Volunteers at CGH Medical Center; Anchor Coupling; Dana Corp; JCPenney; Bergner’s; Frantz Manufacturing; Commonwealth Edison; others.
