Should You Opt Out of ObamaCare?

RandyRandy Venema, Fulton, IL, has been a Licensed Insurance Agent since 1984, amassing extensive training in life and health insurance and annuities.  He is a Certified Senior Adviser, Estate Planner, and Annuity Adviser as well.  Venema’s mission statement is “to make the Christian tradition of health care sharing available and affordable to all.”

Currently he is contracted with Liberty HealthShare, a cost-sharing medical insurance program for Christians.  “We have the most expensive health care in the world.  With the Affordable Care Act likely to become less affordable,” he feels, “it may be time to consider legally opting out of the Affordable Care Act.”

He explained, “About 25 years ago, some nonprofit groups–most notably, large churches or other like-minded individuals–dared to think outside the box and ask, “What if…?”  What if we pool small, monthly donations by our members, and then share in paying for large medical expenses incurred by these members?  It worked and evolved into a handful of well-run, nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporations.  These companies give you another [insurance] option at a cost far less than traditional insurance.”

“They tend to look for healthy nonsmokers, but do make exceptions.  Their prices–or monthly share amounts–start in the $100 to $200 range.  Much more important is the fact that your annual out-of-pocket limit may be as low as $500!  This is unheard of, in today’s world of ever-increasing deductibles and co-payments.”

Venema asks,”What good is cheap insurance if you can never reach the point where you stop paying, and they start paying?”

Advantages to Liberty HealthShare health cost-sharing program:

  • 40 to 50 % less costly that traditional insurance
  • much less out-of-pocket costs
  • for people not covered by ObamaCare
  • for those wishing to opt out of ObamaCare
  • for those wishing to be in control of their health care options.
