“Messiah” Rehearsals Begin January 8

Rehearsals for the Morrison Ecumenical Chorus performance of the Lent and Easter portions of Handel’s “Messiah” will begin at 2:00 p.m., on Sunday, January 8, 2023, at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, 601 N. Jackson Street, Morrison, IL. The concert will be on Palm Sunday, April 2, at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church at 7:00 p.m.

Singers from throughout the area are invited to be a part of this group.

Sponsored by Morrison Ministers Council, performances of “Messiah” have been presented biannually since 1956. Unfortunately, the 2020 concert was only two weeks away, when it was canceled due to the COVID-19 shut-down. This year’s concert will mark the resumption of our special Morrison tradition.

The chorus will be under the direction of Kathy Janicek, Choir Director at Bethesda Lutheran Church, and accompanied by Christine Holmer of Clinton, IA. Participants are asked to attend at least half of the scheduled rehearsals.

Singers who cannot attend the first rehearsal, but would like to participate or have any questions, may contact Director Kathy Janicek at 815-772-2874 or kjanicekcubs@gmail.com.
