Mary “Kayla” Engelkens, age 67, of Morrison, IL, died Sunday, May 21, 2023, at her home.
Kayla was born December 18, 1955, in Sterling, IL, the daughter of Rosemary Egan. She married Rick Engelkens on February 21, 1987, at Lyndon[, IL,] Methodist Church. Kayla had previously been employed as a Personal Care Giver and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, working in her yard, fishing, and cleaning homes.
She is survived by her husband, Rick of Morrison; son, Corey (Angie) Barnes, Sr. of Prophetstown, IL; daughter, Cendra (Rodger Peckno) Engelkens of Flint, MI; four grandchildren, Corey Barnes, Jr., Xavier Peckno, Maddison Peckno, and Trinity Peckno.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Stanley “Kim” Egan.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 30, 2023, from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m., at the McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls, IL, with a brief sharing of words by Kayla’s sister-in-law at 5:30.
A memorial service will follow at 6:15 p.m., at Centennial Park, 508 E. 11th Street, in Rock Falls, IL.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
