Charles G. Maxwell, 82, of Sterling, IL, died Friday, December 31, 2021, at Rock River Hospice & Home, Sterling.
Charles was born March 25, 1939, the son of Earl and Clara (Dettman) Maxwell. He married Nancy Hein on September 29, 1957, at Rock Falls[, IL,] Immanuel Lutheran Church. Charles retired from North Western Steel & Wire in 1995 after 30 years. He traveled full-time with Nancy in their motorhome for 20 years.
Survivors include his wife Nancy; sons, Doug (Denise) Maxwell of South Carolina, Steve (Kim) Maxwell of Glendale Heights, IL, Roger (Kala) Maxwell of Sterling, Alan (Annette) of Mishawaka IN; daughters, Sherry (LeRoy) Smith of Sterling and Michelle (Gary) Brown of Sterling; sisters, Dorothy Boles of Morrison, IL, and Judy (Don) Popowski of Ukiah CA; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jean Allen; brother, Lawrence Maxwell.
Visitation will be 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 7, 2022, with Funeral Services starting at 11:00, at Schilling Funeral Home & Cremation.
Cremation rites will take place following the funeral service.
Burial will take place at a later date.
A memorial has been established.
