Anne Petersen Memory Photos Needed

ballerina“Dancing is the loftiest, the most moving, the most beautiful of the arts, because it is no mere translation or abstraction from life; it is life itself,” stated Havelock Ellis in The Dance of Life.

Morrison, IL, choreographer and dance instructor Anne Petersen, made that her focus for decades.  She transferred her passion to countless students aged 3 and above.

Some students became instructors–always a tribute to remarkable teachers.

Some opened their own studios.

Some are professional dancers.

Her legacy of dance endures through generations.

Unexpectedly, Petersen died Saturday, May 18, 2013, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO, from surgery complications.  She was 77.

Jill Kaufman was honored to have the family call her.  She offered to create a photo display of Mrs. P’s teaching and her solo performances.  Kaufman is Sunny and Stephanie’s mom.  She wants to honor Petersen’s memory and positive impact on the community.

But, Kaufman needs help to do so, because there are many photos of students, but few of the teacher with her students.

Can you help?  If you have a photo of Anne Petersen that you will lend for the visitation and service, contact Kaufman immediately at 815-499-1839.  Drop off photos in the mail slot at 407 Maple Avenue, Morrison.  She must compile the pictures by Wednesday afternoon.  You may also loan a framed photo of Anne with students for the occasion.

Kindly put your phone contact on the back, so it can be safely returned.
