250 Votes Needed for The City Rebar

In less than one minute online, you can cast a vote for a Morrison, IL, business that will qualify them for a Mission Main Street Grant of $250,000.  The grant request has been filed with JPMorgan Chase Bank, but a minimum of 250 public votes is necessary to continue the grant selection process.

Now located at 218 W. Main Street, Morrison, Robert Vaughn began his business from his home basement in 1992.  It flourished over 21 years and employed countless staff.

Steel companies request estimates of the rebar reinforcement that will be needed in projects for which they intend to bid.  Then, detailed projections are created collaboratively with the company and engineers on the ground.  Change orders are a constant facet of the business.  

One recognizable structure that was aided by steel reinforcement drawings from The City Rebar employees is the 2000 Quadracci Pavillion of the Milwaukee, WI, Art Museum.  It has louvered “wings” that open and close like a bird.

Major estimating and detailing tasks for the site at the World Trade Center in New York, NY, are a series of long-term, sometimes interconnected, projects.  Local work on the four towers and an underground transportation hub are indications of The City Rebar’s expertise and the industry’s trust in the company.

The business has been sold to Smithee and includes 13 men and women.  Smithee submitted the Mission Main Street Grant application to JPMorgan Chase.
