Sledding down the Waterworks Park hill is allowed now, at Morrison Winter Park. Begin at 503 W. Winfield Street outside the skating rink–which is not open to the public yet. Bring your own sled, snowboard, or disc. Or borrow one from the “sled library” behind the rink fencing. Persons are invited to donate such equipment.

On Monday afternoon, December 15, 2025, Lyle Bush, left, and Chuck Finley shoveled the rink. The rectangular surface area measures 44 by 88 feet. These volunteers shoveled 3872 square feet of snow from the ice!
Finley filled in bumpy, frozen footprints using some of the shaved ice. He will spray a coat of water to create a smooth surface.
As the chained sign indicates, the “Rink is Closed.” No skating is allowed yet. Soon, skaters may borrow ice skates from the Skate Shack, if they do not own a pair.
Assistant Editor Jerry Lindsey took this rink photograph in the past.
