Dorothy Ann DeMay, 94, of Morrison, IL, died Sunday, December 14, 2025, at Resthave Care & Rehabilitation in Morrison.
Dorothy was born December 10, 1931, in Fenton, IL, the daughter of John and Callie V. (Dyche) Tegeler. She was educated in Fenton grade schools and graduated from Lyndon High School in 1949. On October 8, 1950, Dorothy was married to Gene DeMay in Fenton. They shared their lives together for over 68 years, before his passing on June 17, 2019. Dorothy began her working career at Fitzgerald Pharmacy in Morrison and later served as a Clerk with the United States Post Office for 23 years, retiring in 1992. She was a member of the Morrison United Methodist Church, where she served as a Sunday School Teacher. Her love of service extended beyond the church, as she volunteered as a Cub Scout, Brownie, and Girl Scout Leader. Dorothy was also active in the Morrison Wa-Tan-Ye Club, the Clinton YWCA, and the Morrison Diet Club. She enjoyed reading, working picture puzzles, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and her beloved fur baby.
Survivors include her daughter, Debra (Randy) Roe of Clinton, IA; son, Robert (Deborah) DeMay of Ankeny, IA; five grandchildren, Bryan (Eri) Stolts, Michael (Ellen) Stolts, Adrian (Curtis) Noteboom, Angie (Tony) Wadle, and Kelly (Gregg) Spear; 14 great-grandchildren, Johnathan (Abby) Stolts, Kalley (Jon) Dyson, Taylor (Tanner) Proko, Avery and Andrew Maresca, Olivia Wadle, Logan, Owen, and Olivia Noteboom, Kyle, Brandon, and Christopher Spear, Dilan Trester, and Revah Ready; one great-great-grandson, Matteo Proko; half-sister, Cathy Bell of Marion, OH, and her daughter Annie; half-brothers, Tom (Joyce) Tegeler of Fulton and Marty (Patty) Lewis of Florida; many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gene; stepfather, Art Forth; grandson, Nick Stolts; granddaughter, Mandy Roe.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025, from 1:00 p.m., until the start of the Funeral service, at Morrison United Methodist Church.
The Funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Dr. Sun-ah Kang, Pastor of Morrison United Methodist Church, officiating.
Interment will take place following the service at approximately 4:15 p.m., at Riverside Cemetery in Prophetstown, IL.
The Morrison Chapel of Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial has been established to Odell Public Library in Morrison, IL.
