Many questions have surfaced regarding the activities on the southwest corner of U. S. Route 30 and Orange Street in Morrison, IL. Speculation and rumors have filled many conversations without details or confirmation. On Monday, July 11, 2022, Manreet Kaylan, owner of Krumpets restaurant in Fulton, IL, addressed the Morrison City Council. He and his wife sought to change the zoning located at 303 W. Lincolnway, from Residential to Commercial.
Upon receiving the proposed change, details of the new business venture began to surface. Manreet and Melanie Kaylan are the proud owners of the Krumpets. They have received numerous inquiries from their customers, regarding the possibility of opening a similar business in Morrison. These inquiries coupled with the couple’s desire to operate a drive-through location prompted them to seek a location in Morrison.
Once the location was found, a search began for a partner that was known to provide the same level of exceptional service Krumpets has proven to provide. The search led the Kaylans to contact the owners of Brent’s Firehouse Coffee (owners Brent and Amy Brightman), located in Camanche, IA. Brent’s Firehouse Coffee owns a reputation for great, quality tasting drinks. The pairing of Krumpets delicious baked goods and Brent’s great drinks appeared to make the perfect partnership.
Thus, the formation of Morrison Mocha, LLC was established; the location on Lincolnway was secured; renovation started–with an estimated opening of October 1, 2022.
Morrison Mocha’s full bakery menu along with the diverse drink menu will be served via a drive-up window and a walk-in counter on the inside. Brent noted that the coffee is roasted locally, and fresh grounds are restocked weekly. This allows prices to be very competitive and the quality to be unmatched.
Hours of Morrison Mocha will be Monday-Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.; Saturday, 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.; Sunday, 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
