Viewers Norine and Bill Urban posed a question Thursday, January 12, 2023, to the Editor on thecity1.com Facebook page. They noticed activity by the Union Pacific Railroad near their home in Morrison, IL.
“Out of curiosity, what is the railroad doing in the 400 block of East Wall? Husband and I [are] thinking new drainage.”
The Urbans are correct. The Editor’s call to Mayor Scott Vandermyde noted, Union Pacific Railroad crew “began a week or several days ago, to repair the U. P. culvert, located where Ash Avenue ends at the north side of E. Wall Street. Workers will drain the culvert, so their railroad property can drain properly.”
Thanks to the Urbans for their inquiry. The first question of 2023 has now been answered.
