To cheers of approval, Morrison High School educator Gwenn Rickertson crowned “the king first,” on Saturday, April 27, 2013.  Nolan Dykema was the Prom King honoree, as determined by the student body.  His Prom Queen for the evening was Kaitlyn Finneran.

The Junior-Senior Prom began at 5:00 p.m. with the traditional Grand March across the auditorium stage of Morrison High School, 643 Genesee Avenue, Morrison, IL.  Hollywood 1920’s glitz and glamour was the theme.  Outside the school–ideal for photograph taking–was parked a 1929 automobile.  Rickertson’s father collected vintage automobiles, and she arranged for one to be on display during the Grand March.  Inside, a large, gilded picture frame adorned the stage, flanked by twin floral arrangements.  Here participants paused to show off their elegant attire, before stepping through.  A second stop for photographs was made in front of a piano.

Piano music was an integral part of the evening, performed by Rich Criss.  He also entertained the eager audience, prior to the presentation of a plethora of polished, poised, pretty people!

Not all of the Prom attendees took part in the Grand March, but approximately 160 did–to the delight of a full house of admirers.
