January 13 City Council Report

The City of Morrison Council met on Monday, January 13, 2020, before a large group of citizens, in the Whiteside County Board Room, 400 N. Cherry Street, Morrison, IL. In attendance were Mayor Everett Pannier; City Clerk Melanie Schroeder; City Administrator Barry Dykhuizen; Public Works Director Lori Matlack; Chief of Police Brian Melton; Aldermen ? Bruckner, Dale Eizenga, Ken Mahaffey, Vern Tervelt, Mick Welding, Josh West, and Harvey Zuidema.  The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m.

Three citizens spoke during Public Comment seeking a ban or modification of leaf burning inside the City limits.  Linda Wetzell

The following Consent Agenda (for Action) items passed without dissent.

  • Approval of the December 9, Regular Session Minutes and December 16, 2019 Special Session Minutes
  • Bills Payable of $201,523.27
  • November and December 2019 Treasurer’s Reports
  • Purchase of Community Room Remote Thermostat Controller at $696.  Matlack stated “the price could be under” that, and “the goal is to be more efficient when the Community Room is not in use.”
  • Ordinance #20-01, Disposal of Surplus Personal Property.

  • Waterworks Park Seeding (upper area along Winfield Street) and Grading/Drainage Plan (on the lower area)

The Council recessed to enter Executive Session, to consider the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employee(s) 5ILCS 120/2(c)(1); no action was taken.  The Mayor resumed the meeting and called for adjournment.
