The Morrison Fillies’ season came to a sad ending at Marengo, IL, on Friday, May 30, 2025. They fell in extra innings to the North Boone Vikings 4 -3.
The Fillies scored in the first inning following a Bella Duncan double. She later scored from third base on an interference call on the catcher, and that 1-0 Fillie advantage held until the fourth inning, when the Vikings scored one to tie the score. The Fillies loaded the bases in the fourth inning, but failed to push a run across. They loaded the bases again in the sixth inning and scored one run, off of a Bella Duncan sacrifice fly to left field.
The Fillies took the field in the seventh inning leading 3 to 1 and needing three outs to qualify for the IHSA Super Sectional. Then, the North Boone Lady Vikings scratched out two runs, to tie the game and send it into extra innings.
The Fillies were scoreless in the eighth inning. The Vikings found a runner on third, thanks to a fluke bunt that fell in front of the plate, allowing another runner to advance to third with one out. The next batter slapped a line drive between shortstop and third base that drove in the winning run and ended a great season for the Morrison Fillies.
