It took longer to drive from Morrison to the site of the IHSA Sectional Softball game in Woodstock, IL, than it took the Fillies to eliminate the Marengo Indians, on Thursday, May 29, 2025.
Except for the lone home run in the fourth inning, Bella Duncan slowed the Indian offense by allowing only one additional hit, while striking out 13 batters, to earn the win for the Fillies.
Excited about the home run, the Indians took the 1-0 lead into the bottom of the fourth inning, where the Fillies erupted for six runs. The inning started with a double by Ava Duncan, followed by a walk to Sophie Damhoff, before both Fillies scored on a double off the bat of Madi Armitage. The run parade continued with RBIs by Bella Duncan. Allie Anderson created a 6-1 advantage after four innings. Duncan continued her dominance on the mound and closed out the final three innings, recording a 6 to 1 win.
This advanced the Fillies to a Friday afternoon (May 30, 4:30 p.m.,) Sectional Championship quest against the Vikings of North Boone at Woodstock, IL.
