David L. Miller (1947 – 2026)

David L. Miller, 78, of Morrison, IL, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2026, in Joliet, IL, after a long battle with dementia and Parkinson’s Disease.

David was born on December 9, 1947, in Sterling, IL, the son of Homer and Emogene (Anderson) Miller.  He grew up in Malvern, IL, on the Miller family farm.  David had a lifelong love for farming, the Chicago Cubs, Johnny Cash music, and Starbucks with his niece, Jillian.  He loved his whole family.  He was educated in the Malvern and Clystic grade schools of rural Whiteside County and attended Morrison High School.  David was employed at Volkman Furniture in Morrison and Self Help Enterprises in Sterling, IL, for many years.  He always had something to say.  He was always on the move in later years with his walker.  He was a loving brother to his siblings, Maurece “Morey” Johnson of Rensselaer, IN, Douglas (Cheri) Miller of Sterling, and Tina Miller of Morrison, IL.

Survivors include his siblings; nieces and nephews, Whitney (Josh) Smith, Kennedy Smith, Tyson (Jill Reyna ) Venema,  Steven (Jillian) Neas, Rosie Neas, Roman Neas, Abel Neas, Daryl (Chris) Johnson, Sandy (Arnulfo) Garcia, Laura Grist, Theo Grist, Jimmy (Marie) Johnson, Shawn Johnson, Michele (Jeff) Foust, Zac Foust, Alison Foust, Carlos Foust, Adam (Kelli) Miller, Joseph Miller, Joshua Miller; special caregivers, Pam, Eric, Patience, and Lorraine, whom Dave lovingly called “Raindrop.”

He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Emogene Miller; brother-in-law, Lee Johnson; nephew, Allan Johnson.

A time of Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma- Renkes Funeral Home.  Cremation Rites will be accorded following the Visitation.

A private Graveside Service will be held at Rock Creek Cemetery in Morrison, IL.

A memorial has been established to CGH Health Foundation Dementia Project.
