The Morrison, IL, City Council convened on Monday, August 24, 2026, and all Councilmen answered roll call except Sidonna Mahaffey.
Opening conversation included the second request of an OSLAD grant that would fund a Waterworks Park Splash Pad Project. The 50% grant would have to be matched by local funds from the City, to an estimated overall project being $641,893.72. ($320,947 – DNR OSLAD Match – $320.947 – Morrison local Match.) The Council approved the project by a vote of 6-0. The project will remove existing tennis courts and replace them with a new ADA accessible Splash Pad. DNR will announce the awards approximately January 2027, and construction would begin in Spring 2027.
Additional action of the Council approved (6-0) Ordinance 2026-16, that amended and replaced the Fee Schedule for Water and Wastewater Charges. The rates will show adjustments without any rate increases.
The Council adjourned at 6:52 p.m. and will meet every second and fourth Monday, in Odell Public Library, 307 S. Madison Street. Any citizen is welcome to attend the proceedings.
