On Friday, August 29, 2025, the Morrison Mustangs will open the 2025 Football season, under third-year Coach Nathan Vandermyde. Coach Vandermyde is a 2008 graduate of Morrison High School and enters the schoolyear with anxious and excited anticipation.
The 2025 Mustangs will compete in the Northwest Upstate Illini Conference. It includes Lena-Winslow, Galena, DUPEC, Forreston, Dakota, Fulton, Ottawa Marquette, and Pearl City/Eastland. The Conference has been dominated by Lena-Winslow over the past years. This year will open with the same challenge with all teams fielding quality teams, searching for the combination of how to top the Panthers in 2025.
Coach Vandermyde’s Mustangs will field a squad of improved linemen, leading the way for the speedsters that have shown their ability by owning the Illinois State Track title. Vandermyde notes that Football creates a challenge in translating that Track speed into Football success, but it extends much optimism in the possibilities that face the Mustangs.
The Morrison community can assist the Mustang success by planning to attend each Friday night action and offering enthusiastic support to these young Mustangs. They are giving their all to make the Morrison Mustang Football program successful and making the community proud of the efforts extended.
