Odell Public Library, 307 S. Madison Street, Morrison, IL, initiates its fall schedule of Life-Long Learning opportunities, in the Program Room. Beginning Monday, August 24, 2015, at 6:30 p.m., the first presenter is Rosemary Hinkley of Freeport, IL. Through a personal perspective she will share “Preparing to be a Survivor.” The program is for all couples of every age who will face the inevitability of death. The purpose of her program is to make life easier for survivors–by making preparations long before a death occurs.
Hinkley is a retired English teacher who taught 18 years in the Dakota school system. Her husband was an engineer at Microsoft. He was diagnosed with cancer and died after a two-year struggle. Her family circle includes two sons and six grandchildren.
She and her husband were quite musical and played in bands and orchestras throughout the area. She plays French Horn, and he played Baritone. Music actually brought them together for they met in high school choir. Music still has a great meaning for Rosemary.
“Music has saved me,” she said. “I find it a comfort, and it fills the emptiness of my home. It truly inspires and calms me.”
Come and hear this lively speaker. “Advance planning is a must! Couples need to talk about what will happen and his or her preferences,” declared Hinkley. There is no charge for this program.
