1550 Stuffed Easter Eggs!

Posted by

Spring has just arrived, but one community event has been in the planning stage for months:  the Annual Kiwanis Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 30, 2013.  Spearheaded for “about ten years” by Kiwani Ken Huizenga, the preparing of colorful plastic eggs is a monumental task.

On Saturday, March 23, Huizenga teamed with Nancy VanZuiden, Activities Director at Resthave Retirement and Nursing Home, 408 Maple Avenue, Morrison, IL, to facilitate.  She enlisted 18 residents, staffers, and visitors at 1:30 p.m. for an all-out assault on 1550 empty eggs.

A continuing asset to the Kiwanis Easter Egg hunt is involvement by the Morrison High School Key Club.  Seven members were on hand to assist residents by folding prizes to tuck into eggs.  They poured loads of candy, gum, toys, and eggs on the work tables.

These students were Michaela Rinker, Olivia Nielsen, Kaitlin Cronister, Rachel Magana, Sarah VenHuizen, Rebecca Coyle, and Korey Zigler.

Next Saturday Rinker, Nielsen, Cronister, Magana, and Zigler will return to help children at the egg hunt in Kiwanis Park.

Other Key Club members attending will be Shannon and Kaitlyn Finneran, Brianna McNinch, Ashley Hagerman, Paige and Jay Dykstra, and Kayli Becker.

Look for Fireman John Bielema as he delivers the Easter Bunny to the park at 9:45 a.m.  Egg-gathering fun begins at 10:00.

As an aside, work is progressing on the extensive addition to Resthave.
