Robed Seniors Visit Grade Schools and Junior High

Posted by

On Friday, May 24, the soon-to-be Morrison High School Class of 2019 spent their last day of High School visiting Northside School, Morrison Junior High, and Southside School.  The initiative was designed by High School Counselor Julie Churchill, to recognize and celebrate a significant, upcoming milestone for the MHS Seniors on Sunday, May 26, at 2:00 p.m., at Morrison High School.  Similar to walk-out celebrations for athletes, this event was also designed to build multi-school spirit.

Wearing red robes and caps and, for some, honor cords, Seniors processed through the hallways of their earlier attendance centers.  They were lined with younger Unit District 6 students, who clapped and slapped hands with Seniors they recognized.

A school bus has taken them first to Northside, then dropped them at the Junior High.  After walking through that building, the Seniors walked to, and through, Southside, before returning to the High School.

The class arrived at the south end of Southside at 1:55 p.m.  Third graders were in the cafeteria, receiving new bicycle helmets from Morrison Rotary Club.  Fourth and Fifth graders formed the cheerful gauntlet.  Visit Facebook.com/Morrison-Community-Unit-School-District-6 to see a video from Southside.
