donald l millerDonald Lyle Miller, 90, of Morrison, IL,, passed away Friday, January 4, 2019, at Mercy North, Clinton, IA.

Don was born October 3, 1928, near Lanark, IL, in Rock Creek Township, Carroll County, IL, the son of Louis G. and Lucille M. (Franklin) Miller.  He married Eileen Leah Bealer in Fenton, IL, on June 2, 1956; she died February 3, 1998.  Don was a United States Air Force Veteran, serving from 1946 to 1948, and was retired from the Air Force Reserve.  He was a graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University, attending from 1948-1952.  Don taught 4th-through-8th grade Band and Voice in Morrison Middle School and Northside School, from 1953 to 1993.  He had taught K-12 Band and Voice in Wenona, IL, from 1952-1953.  Donald was a member of The Church of St. Anne, where he was very active.  He was a member and Past Board President of the Odell Public Library.  He was active from the beginning of Morrison Music Theater Association.  Don was a longtime, active Rotarian.  He enjoyed traveling, reading, music, and rose gardening.

Survivors include his sisters-in-law, Delores (Daniel W. Wohlstadter) Berge, Janice (William) Lundin, and Joan Zuidema; brother-in-law, Laurence (Beverly) Bealer; nieces and nephews, William Berge, David Lundin, Christopher Lundin, Eric Lundin, Andrea Hurson, Steven Stanton, Daniel Stanton, Kaye Hoogerwerf, Tracy Ziegenhorn, Edward Zuidema, Michael Bealer, Phillip Bealer, and John Bealer.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his niece, Jeanne Dee Berge, and his parents.

In lieu of flowers, Don requested that memorial offerings be given to “The Church of St. Anne–Donald L. Miller Memorial Fund,” 401 N. Cherry Street, Morrison, IL 61270.

On Friday, January 11, 2019, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., St Anne’s Episcopal Church and Rectory will host a Celebration of Life for Donald L. Miller.  The wake will be held at Odell Public Library, 307 S. Madison Street, Morrison, IL.  The Rev. Father James Brzezinski will offer prayers at 4:00 and 6:00.

On Saturday, January 12, 2019, The Celebration of Life-Solemn High Mass, with tolling of the bell and incense, will be offered at 11:00 a.m., with The Rev. Father James Brzezinski celebrating at The Church of Saint Anne, 401 N. Cherry Street, Morrison IL.

Interment of cremains will take place in the Resurrection Garden at St. Anne’s Church following Mass.
