September 8 Community Recycling Day at New Location

RecycleTVMorrison Lions Club and their partners will host “Keep Morrison Beautiful,” a Community Recycling Day, on Saturday, September 8, 2018.  Hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  If you have questions or would like to volunteer, please call Flora at 815-772-4874 or email her at fstralow@mchsi.com.  Monetary donations are appreciated.

The event will be held at a new location:   Morrison Water Works Park. 

  • Enter only from Winfield Street at the West driveway, near the tennis courts.
  • Exit only at the East driveway, near the playground, onto Winfield.

Sponsors include City of Morrison; Morrison Police Department; American Legion Post #328; Schuler Motors, Inc.; Morrison Auto Supply Car Quest; Boy Scout Troop 96; Self Help Enterprises; Roggy’s Scrap Metal Hauling; First Presbyterian Church; Christian Reformed Church; DQ Grill & Chill.

Items listed will be collected for free recycling:

•American Flags
•Eyeglasses\Hearing Aids\Keys\Decorative String Lights\Cell phones
•Aluminum Cans
•Printer Ink\Toner Cartridges
•Paper Products–catalogs, corrugated boxes, magazines, hard- and soft-cover books, newspapers, telephone books, and encyclopedias.  Items should be separated by type.  This does not include items to be shredded.
•Ammunition
•Electronics–computers, fax machines, telephones, calculators, cameras, camcorders, microwaves, CD and DVD players, VCR’s, TV’s, keyboards, projectors, printers, scanners, shredders, and modems
•Medications–old prescriptions, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and pet medications.  Please submit pills in a clear, plastic bag.  No needles.  No syringes. No liquids.
•Scrap Metal\Household Appliances–vacuum cleaners, power and lawn tools, refrigerators, washers, dryers, ovens, dehumidifiers, freezers, aerosol cans, cords, water
heater tanks, etc.  For pick ups call or email Jeff Roggy at 815-590-0446 or 97gmcs@gmail.com.
•Vehicle Batteries–6, 12, and 24 volt lead acid batteries from vehicles, mowers, motorcycles, boats, RV’s, and heavy equipment
•Used Motor Oil and Antifreeze should be dropped off at Schuler Motors, Inc., 727 W. Lincolnway, Morrison.

We will not accept hazardous waste, paint, tires, propane tanks, plastic items, documents to be shredded, household batteries, smoke detectors, or light bulbs.  We reserve the right to refuse any item.
