The Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office and Mounted Patrol host the annual Youth Fishing Derby on Saturday, September 7, 2013, from 9:00 a.m. to noon. The law enforcement agencies have sponsored the derby for more than 40 years.
This popular fishing contest is open to all youth aged 15 and under and is free for everyone.
Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at the marina in Morrison-Rockwood State Park. A parent or guardian must sign for each child.
- Prizes will be awarded to all youth participants throughout the morning.
- Grand prizes are awarded for the largest fish (total length) in each category: bass, bluegill, catfish, crappie, and muskie/walleye.
- Special prizes are awarded for individual efforts.
