Write Now! Motivational Program November 20

Have you ever thought you’d like to write a novel?  Why not start today?  Odell Public Library is pleased to host local independent author Amanda McNeill on Thursday, November 20, 2014, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in the Program Room.  The library is located at 307 S. Madison Street, Morrison, IL.

Join us as McNeill presents “Write Now!”  This is a motivational session to encourage aspiring writers to stop procrastinating and start writing.  She will provide valuable insights and tools to begin the writing process.  Attendees will discuss character development, dialogue, and genre, as well as share which reference materials are most helpful to beginning writers.

Don’t worry if you’re new at writing.  There are as many different ways to write a novel as there are novelists.  McNeill encourages you to be fearless and bring your questions.

Although McNeill knew she wanted to write from an early age, it took a few years to get started.  Part of her motivation comes from personal observations of apathy in society.  The intent of her writing is to make people stop and think. She believes, “We need to read books that alert us to potential dangers in our society.  Apathy is the greatest threat to our Democracy.”  Her own work, Life Sketches, portrays one possible future if apathy persists.

McNeill is the daughter of a Prophetstown, IL, farmer and has lived in the area most of her life.  A former Assistant Director of two local libraries, she considers herself a champion of free speech and believes in reading and writing books that help people think critically.  She resides in rural Prophetstown with her husband Rodney and four cats.  She is currently working on a sequel to Life Sketches as well as a series on small town corruption.

We hope you can join us for this inspiring evening.  If you ever considered writing, there’s no better time than the present.  The event is free and open to the public.
