Woodlawn Arts Academy Juried Show Winners

Posted by

Woodlawn Arts Academy, 3807 Woodlawn Road, Sterling, IL, recently opened its 10th annual Juried Art Show, partnering with Sauk Valley Community College.  Nearly 80 pieces were entered into adult photography and fine arts categories and the children’s show.  Entries are on display in the halls and lounge at the Academy until Friday, November 2.  Visitors are welcome to view the art during the Academy’s regular business hours:  9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and  9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Fridays.

The exhibit was sponsored by Arthur’s and Don Pedro’s, Sauk Valley Bank, and CGH Medical Center.  Woodlawn Arts Academy is proud to be supported by United Way of Whiteside and Lee Counties and the Illinois Arts Council Agency.

Winners of Woodlawn Arts Academy’s 2018 Juried Art Exhibit are shown with Susanne Nestory of Peoria, IL, far left, Art Professor at Bradley University.  She was this year’s exhibit judge.  Nestory was impressed by all the artwork submitted.  She said this made it difficult for her to choose the best pieces and to narrow down an order for the top four pieces in each category.

People’s Choice for Best of Show was awarded to Andre Joseph Sky of Rock Falls, IL, for his black and white poster print Forlorn.  Each of the winners received a cash prize.  Select pieces from this show will be used as banners on the First Avenue Bridge, thanks to a partnership with Sterling Main Street and Bridge the Community.

Left-to-right are Illinois winners, Allison Noble, Brandi Benson, Andre Joseph Sky, Desidre Johnson, Briana D., Zaden W., Nancy Weber, Bob Logsdon, Jake Z., and Scott Ide.  Winners not pictured were Stuart Roddy and Elsie G.
