Sunday, September 8, through Saturday, September 14, 2019, is National Assisted Living Week. The theme is “A Spark of Creativity.” What better field trip than to The Loft on Main, 112 E. Main Street in downtown, Morrison, for residents of Windsor Manor Assisted Living Community, 403 Scenic Street, Morrison, IL. Executive Director Stephanie Neas arranged transportation for several interested women and one man for a 1:00 p.m. visit.
Unfortunately once they arrived, a weather alert of a possible tornado at 4:00 sent the first group safely back to Windsor Manor, without time for a long look around. Included were residents Ruth Chandeysson, Rose Friederich, Denise Garman, Regina Keith, Lois King; Housekeeper/Personal Assistant Dusty Naggs; resident Elwin Nice; Dietary Staff and Activity Helper Cindy Shambaugh.
The Editor was able to record the short visit of four residents and one staff member, before their hurried departure.
Left-to-right are Alison Manternach of Yorktown, VA, holding “Mattie;” Loft Volunteer Pat McGarvey, Volunteer Coordinator Sandra Crouse, and Volunteer Joyce Vandermeulen; Windsor Manor residents Billie Miller, Marla Buikema, and Arlene Benedict, grandmother of Manternach; Windsor Manor Maintenance Director Jerry Lehr; resident “Cookee” Shawver.
Hopefully a return visit will be planned.
