Wilma Jean Tegeler, 87, of Morrison, IL, passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at Resthave Care & Rehabilitation (Assisted Living) in Morrison.
Born in Fenton, IL, on August 21, 1936, Wilma was the daughter of Kenneth and Marguerite (Strating) Tegeler. She was educated in the Spring Creek Grade School of rural Whiteside County and graduated from Erie High School in 1954. During her lifetime, Wilma made significant contributions to the workforce, working for the former Fidelity Life Insurance Company in Fulton, IL, and later serving as a Department Manager at Sears in Kewanee, IL. Wilma’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was a former member of the Newton Zion Reformed Church in Erie, IL, and remained a devout member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison. Wilma’s passion for sports was a defining feature of her life. She was a member of the Kewanee Ball Hawks Softball team, and her love for sports didn’t stop with Softball. She was a devoted fan of the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and the Illini sports teams. In addition to her passion for sports, Wilma was an avid supporter of her nieces and nephews. She found immense joy in following their participation in all school-related events.
Survivors include her sisters, Verna Anderson of Morrison, Karen (Bob) Sweikar of Savoy, IL, and Debra (Al) Michalik of Buckeye, AZ; brothers, Kenny (Gayle) Tegeler of Fulton and Roger (Debbie) Tegeler of Morrison; several nieces and nephews; many great-nieces and -nephews; her caregiving team, “Nurse” Mary, “Doctor” Donna, Marlene, and Mary Jane.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mary Tegeler; niece, Valerie Hale; nephew, Brian Tegeler; brother-in-law, Arden Anderson.
A Funeral service to honor Wilma’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, October 20, 2023, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, with Ken Renkes officiating.
The Visitation will precede the service starting at 10:00 a.m., until the time of the Funeral.
Following the service, Interment will be at Fenton Cemetery in Fenton, IL.
