William Dean Buhlig, Jr., 67, of Thomson, IL, died Tuesday, September 11, 2018, after a yearlong battle with cancer. He died at the Cleveland Clinic Hospital while visiting his daughter and family in Ohio.
Dean was born February 7, 1951, in Morrison, IL, to William D. “Bill” and Norma Jean (Gregory) Buhlig, Sr. He was raised in Albany, IL, and was a 1969 graduate of Fulton High School in Fulton, IL. Dean served in United States Army. He married Susan Faye Meinsma on March 6, 1971, in Fulton. Dean was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad. He was a member of the VFW and the Donald Ashpole American Legion Post 1025 in Thomson, IL.
Survivors include his wife, Sue of Morrison; two daughters, Heather (Brian) Stewart of Concord Township, OH, and Brandy (Kevin) Fernow of Batavia, IL; one son, Nathan (Shamaree) Buhlig of North Platte, NE; four grandchildren, Camden, Bennett, Nora, and Henry; one sister, Patricia Clark of Broussard, LA.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, September 17, 2018, at Albany United Methodist Church in Albany, IL, with Pastor Toni Lucas officiating.
A memorial visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, September 16, 2018, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Interment will be at Lusk Memorial Cemetery in Albany, IL.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in honor of Dean’s devotion to Sue and her continued journey with Alzheimer’s.
