Enthusiastic, caring volunteers are needed as White Oaks Therapeutic Equestrian Center (WHOA) prepares for the upcoming series of horse lessons. White Oaks was established for the purpose of providing recreational, educational, therapeutic, and social opportunities for persons with disabilities.
Tawny Wiersema stated,” We have several opportunities available to volunteer for our program, ranging anywhere from volunteering for classes (which consists of leading horses and/or side-walking alongside riders and horses), occasionally helping with miscellaneous tasks around the barn, to helping with marketing and fundraising. These opportunities are a lot fun and so very rewarding!”
Please call Wiersema at 815-772-2669 for a volunteer packet to get signed up. “Anyone interested in volunteering for classes must be over age 14 and attend our new volunteer training days. All volunteers must fill out the required forms in the volunteer packet in order to participate. All packets are due Saturday, April 1, 2017.”
New volunteer training dates are Wednesday, May 10, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m and Saturday, May 13, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., at the WHOA facility on the Whiteside County Fairgrounds. The location is 201 W. Winfield Street, Morrison, IL.
Adults or youth, males and females are urged to become a significant factor in the lives of others. Four-footed and two-footed members of WHOA look forward to meeting you!
