The Whiteside County Fair Board has been very busy preparing for an amazing lineup of entertainment at this year’s fair, and it is sure to please all who attend! The Fair opens Tuesday, August 12, 2014, and concludes after five amazing days on Saturday, August 16. The 144th annual fair, held at the fairgrounds in Morrison, IL, has many exciting additions for this year.
Explore a new activity this year at your Whiteside County Fair. As always, the Fair Board strives to provide something for everyone, young and old alike.
Winner of NBC’s “The Sing-Off”, Columbia Records recording artists Home Free will entertain the crowd on the main stage in front of the grandstand on Wednesday, August 13. This amazing, country a cappella group will be sure to please, as they harmonize their voices and sing some of your favorite current songs. They will mix in a couple of their own, that will soon find their way to your playlist.
On Thursday, August 14, Solution Action Sports performs their Freestyle Madness Tour. this event will thrill the crowd, as riders on BMX bikes and FMX motorcycles perform various tricks in front of the grandstand. Riders will be sure to impress, as they perform their acrobatic moves on two wheels! Whether you’re a cowboy or a cowboy-at-heart, you won’t want to miss this first time event at our fair. Ranch Sorting will take place in the Gold Star Arena on Thursday. This event puts horse and rider and their ability to sort cattle against a clock. Sorting will start at noon.

Tuesday, August 12, evening grandstand entertainment is Pro-Bull Riding at 7:00 p.m. Other events to start the fair are the Western Horse Show at 8:00 a.m.; Open & Jr. Swine Judging at noon and 4:30 p.m.; Kids Pedal Pull at 2:00 p.m.; Rabbit Judging at 6:00 p.m.
Wednesday, August 13, “Home Free” will take the main stage in front of the grandstand and please your ears and bring a smile to your face, singing their country style of a cappella music at 7:00 p.m. Western Horse speed events will start the day at 8:00 a.m. At 9:00 a.m. the Dairy will be judged.
Thursday, August 14, evening grandstand entertainment is the “Freestyle Madness Tour” by Solution Action Sports. Freestyle BMX and FMX riders will perform their tricks starting at 7:00 p.m. That morning in front of the grandstand at 9:00 a.m. the Heavy Horse Hitches will be judged. Also at 9:00 a.m., the Beef Cattle – Jr. Heifer/Jr. Steer will be judged at the Beef Show Arena.
Friday, August 15, Tractors and Trucks will pull the sled in front of the grandstand at 6:30 p.m., right after the Antique Tractor Parade that starts at 5:45 p.m. During the morning at 9:00 a.m. the Heavy Horse Halter Classes will be seen from the grandstand. The Open Beef Show will be judged in the Beef Show Arena at 9:00, also. Harness Racing will take over the track at 1:30 p.m. to entertain everyone in the grandstand.
Saturday, August 16, the Demolition Derby will finish the fair’s five-day evening attractions at 6:30 p.m. Harness Racing is back on the track at 1:00 p.m. Other events on Saturday are Horseshoe Tournament at 10:00 a.m. and Kids Pedal Pull at 11:00 a.m.
Wilson Family Rides will entertain kids and adults again this year with outstanding carnival and midway attractions, providing a festive and fun time for everyone. Other returning favorites include Grandpa Cratchet Stage Show, our Bike give-aways each day, and the Cake/Pie Walk.
