On Wednesday, May 12, 2021, the Editor walked east from her car, on the north side of W. Main Street, Morrison, IL. A long expanse of oval, concrete pipes was so purposefully placed beside the curbing. She wondered exactly what their purpose would be. What was their part in the Main Street Renovation?
City Administrator Barry Dykhuizen answered the question the next day. These are collection pipes for storm water run-off. Once buried under the street, the series of pipes will drain water into Rock Creek. Dykhuizen noted some original storm water pipes made of brick were found during excavation. These sturdy ovals will be a better product.
In the photograph Joy Tegeler has stopped mid-street. She likely was wondering how to get to her Tegeler Accounting Services office, whose entrance ramp is visible. Viewers might have some fun creating a caption to reflect her thought process!
