Early February is far from the time of spring nesting, but a new season of birth has begun for the widely-known pair of American Bald Eagles, Liberty (female) and Justice.
At 2:30 p.m. Liberty laid her first egg on Thursday, February 7, 2013, as shown via the Eaglecam high above the Alcoa Davenport, IA, Works. The birds are viewed around the clock, around the world.
On Tuesday, February 11, about 6:00 p.m. she laid the second.
In 2011 one of two eggs survived. Online voters named the eaglet Freedom.
In 2012 three eggs were laid in February, and all survived. After more than 200,000 name votes were cast, Faith, Hope, and Spirit were chosen.
