You won’t have to travel to major cities around the world to experience Madame Tussauds Wax Museum figures. This fascinating experience can be found during Morrison’s Heritage Museum Grand Opening, Sunday, April 27, 2014. In addition, a dozen wax figures will speak to you on command!
Fourth grade interpreters from West Carroll Elementary School in Savanna, IL, will showcase historical figures. Doors open at 1:00 p.m. for the public to meet “The Wax Museum” youngsters and learn the event’s “round-robin” touring procedure. Guests will travel around the building to hear 12 notable characters come alive, during first-person orations by the children.
This entertaining and informative program will appeal to students and adults of all ages. There is never a charge to attend Historical Society programs. Come start the 2014 season with a unique, interactive presentation.
Each year, Kristan Yingling’s students select a person of note to research and portray. They compile attractive, accompanying posters of facts and create appropriate period dress. In the performance, each child is inanimate–as if frozen in wax–until an audience member signals them to speak.
Morrison Historical Society’s facility is located at 202 E. Lincolnway, Morrison, IL, at the intersection of U. S. Highway 30 and IL Route 78. Parking is at the rear of the building, as is a ramp for ease of access. Additionally, there is an automatic chair to convey visitors to the basement “stage.”
“We have three classes [of fourth graders,] and [I] chose four from each class,” stated Yingling.
Prepare to meet the past at “The Wax Museum” inside Morrison’s Heritage Museum April 27.
