The Sawmill Museum, 2231 Grant Street, Clinton, IA, offers the last of its August summer classes for children: “Make Your Own Watercolor Painting.” On Saturday, August 31, 2013, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., you get to make your own masterpiece!
The admission fee–$4 for adults and $3 for children–covers materials for all programs.
What will you see at the museum?
- Lumberjack Camp: A recreated 1888 lumberjack camp for kids and adults young-at-heart, to play and live as lumberjacks and Jills. Check out the lumberjack camp scavenger hunt to unlock life as a lumberjack.
- Vintage and Replica Sawmill: On the first Sunday of every month from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., see our restored 1920’s sawmill in action. For a limited time, come see Bill Michael’s model of an early 1900’s sawmill and lumber yard. It’s a replica of a mill used in California.
- Family Corner and Midwest Lumber Train: Whether it’s a ride on our train or partaking in a craft, families will never want to leave.
- Struve Mill: Follow a piece of lumber from a rough cut slab to a smooth chair leg. Leslie Struve is shown below.
The Sawmill Museum is open seven days a week:
Sunday, 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.
