Wands V. Riggen, 91, of Morrison, IL, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 26, 2023, at Rock River Hospice and Home in Sterling, IL.
Wanda was born August 18, 1932, to Clark and Stella (Barnhart) Nelson, in Fenton Township of Whiteside County, IL. She attended Valley Grade School and graduated at the age of 16 from Erie High School, in 1949. She married Charles F. Riggen on August 8, 1953, in Morrison. They enjoyed 57 years together until his passing on July 21, 2010. Wanda had worked at General Electric, the G.E. Credit Union, FS Company, and, lastly, for 20 years at the Whiteside County Environmental Health Department. She retired in 1992. Wanda and Chuck enjoyed traveling and had visited many places of interest in the United States, including 48 State Capitals, many Civil War sites, museums, and Presidential homes. She was a member of Morrison United Methodist Church and had volunteered at the Odell Public Library. Wanda enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, traveling, and genealogy.
Survivors include her daughter, Nancy (Gary) Riggen; son, Mike (Lynne) Riggen; three grandchildren, Andy Riggen, Michelle (Jesse) Campbell, and Bill Bos; six greatgrandchildren, Gianna, Cicily, Laurel, and Lydia Campbell; Camille Valdez; Everly Bos; sisters, Neva Baar, Joyce Snyder, Virgina (Tom) Bush, and Esther Mohns; brother, Danny (Linda) Nelson.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, November 30, 2023, at Morrison United Methodist Church, with Pastor Sun-ah Kang officiating.
A Visitation will be held from 4:30 to7:30 p.m., Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home.
Interment will be at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison, IL.
A memorial has been established in her honor.
