Wa-Tan-Ye Invites All to Salad Luncheon

VegetableSaladThe Wa-Tan-Ye will host a community Salad Luncheon and informational program about diabetes on Saturday, August 13, 2016.  The meal begins at 11:00 a.m. at Morrison United Methodist Church, 200 W. Lincolnway, Morrison, IL.  The public is invited to meet Dr. Priyanka Gauravi, Endocrinologist at Morrison Community Hospital.

Dr. Gauravi completed her internal medicine residency at Louis Weiss Memorial Hospital, which is affiliated with the University of Chicago.  She then completed a second residency in Diabetes and Endocrinology at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA.  She is a Board Certified Endocrinologist, specializing in diabetes and thyroid treatments.  Dr. Gauravi started working at Morrison Community Hospital two years ago.

Recent statistics show that 10.1% of the population in Whiteside County (5825 people) over the age of 20 have been diagnosed with diabetes.  Also, 30.26% or 15,458 people have a body mass index over 30, which means they can be susceptible to diseases attributed to obesity.

We are so fortunate to have an endocrinologist that lives in Morrison to help these people develop a care plan to put them on the path to better health.

Reservations are requested by Friday, August 12, by calling Clarita at 815-772-4902 or Kathy at 815-772-3838.

A free-will donation will support the American Red Cross Blood Drive meal, which is served to donors.  The Wa-Tan-Ye women’s service organization is always the ARC Blood Drive September sponsor.
