Dana Nelson, Whiteside County Clerk, announced Wednesday, October 12, 2016, that “grace period registration” for residents who did not register to vote by the Tuesday, October 11, deadline will be available from Wednesday, October 12, through Tuesday, November 8, for the upcoming General Election on November 8.
Voters who register during the grace period must register in the office of the County Clerk and must cast their ballot that same day. People registering during the grace period cannot vote at their polling place on Election Day.
These are registration requirements to be eligible to vote:
- must be a citizen of the United States
- must be at least 18 years old by Tuesday, November 8, 2016
- must have been a resident of the precinct at least 30 days prior to Election Day.
When registering, two forms of identification are required; one must show the current address of the applicant.
Individuals may register and vote in person during normal office hours (Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) and also on Saturday, October 29, and Saturday, November 5, (from 9:00 a.m. until noon) at the Clerk’s office, at Whiteside County Courthouse, 200 E. Knox Street, Morrison, IL.
