Rollie elder“On Friday, October 16, 2015, we…entered our Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Rollie Elder[, left,] and his K9, “Nicom,” in Aftermath Services’ K9 contest, to win $5000,” wrote Nancy Riggen.  The department encourages residents in area communities to help amass votes.  The winner will be determined Tuesday, November, 3, 2015.

Aftermath Services stated, “We understand the importance of having a good team and the necessary equipment to support getting the job done right.  For many law enforcement agencies, funds for safety equipment, uniforms, and investigative supplies can be challenging to obtain.  Supportive units such as K9 operations are typically underfunded, if they exist at all.  These highly-trained teams of dogs and their handlers serve numerous important functions, including search and rescue, evidence location, and suspect apprehension.”

“For these reasons, Aftermath Services decided to sponsor a [fourth annual] giveaway that rewarded the men and women of law enforcement for their hard work and dedication, serving the communities where we live and work.  The winner of the contest [will receive] a $5000 grant to help fund the purchase and training of a new K9 office.  [Departments with canine units may use the grant for] other expenses such as safety equipment, additional training, and supplies such as food and veterinary care.”

The entire community is encouraged to vote once a day for “Whiteside County Sheriff’s Department” at www.aftermath.com/k9contest.  Extra daily votes are allowed from different computers, tablets, and smartphones.  Sharing via social media is encouraged.  You can vote om the same device, using different email adresses.
