Virginia A. Popkin, age 79 of Morrison, IL, died Sunday, April 10, 2016, at Mercy Living Center North in Clinton, IA.
Virginia was born on July 24, 1936, in Moline, the daughter of George and Mabel (King) Johnson. She graduated from Morrison High School in 1955. Virginia married Arnold Popkin on July 26, 1958, in Morrison. She helped farm for many years. Virginia was a member of Morrison United Methodist Church, where she volunteered much of her time. She taught Sunday school, She also was chairman of the dining room, a member of the Esther Circle, and a member of the United Methodist Women’s group. She loved to travel and had visited places out West, such as the Dakotas and Arizona. She enjoyed gardening, attending her grandson’s sporting events, and going to county fairs.
Survivors include her husband, Arnold of Morrison; one son, David Popkin of Fulton, IL; daughter, Linda Kay Warrner of Fulton; grandson, Josh (Abby) Warrner of Oregon, IL; brother Steve (Jeanne) Johnson of Chesapeake, VA; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Doug Johnson; one great-grandchild, Lyla Sue Warrner.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 12, 2016, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Morrison United Methodist Church.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at 10:30 a.m., at the church, with Rev. Ryan Sutton officiating.
Burial will follow at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Morrison United Methodist Church Sunday school.
Arrangements were completed with the McDonald Funeral Home in Fulton.
