Veterans–Contact Engaldo to March in Savanna

Posted by

Greetings, Veterans,

As you know, there will be a Veterans Parade beginning at 10:00 a.m., in Savanna, IL, on Saturday, June 16, 2018.  We want every veteran from both sides of the Mississippi River to join us and participate in the parade.  The first two hundred vets that sign up to participate in the parade will receive a ball cap and t-shirt as a memento.  Check out the picture…very sharp!  You will look great in them.

IF YOU PLAN TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PARADE AS AN INDIVIDUAL
We need to know:
1.     name
2.     t-shirt size…small, medium, large, etc.
3.     cell number for Parade Day contact
4.     Do you need a ride in the parade?  Parade route is 1.5 miles.

IF YOU PLAN TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PARADE AS PART OF A GROUP
We need to know:
1.     the name of your group (e.g. American Legion Post 123)
2.     contact/leader of your group (name, cell number, and e-mail)
3.     number of vets in your group
4.     t-shirt sizes for vets in your group
5.     Do the members of your group need rides in the parade?
6.     Is your group able to provide its own transport in the parade?  Please describe.
7.     How many members of your group will walk?
8.     Will your group have a float in the parade?

VetHat ShirtAll entrants will be contacted via email with their staging and parade position prior to Saturday, June 16.

After the parade, enjoy downtown Savanna.  Visit Savanna’s Museum and Cultural Center.  It will have an exhibit featuring veteran-related artifacts and items of interest–including a display of new and old bridge photography, from local photographer Roger Husband.

A traveling NASA exhibit entitled the “Journey to Tomorrow” will also be open. The exhibit includes fun-filled learning stations and engaging activities, related to NASA missions and space travel in general.

Have lunch in one of our restaurants or the outdoor Food Court, featuring a variety of food vendors and local groups serving tasty treats.

A Veterans Memorial Ceremony will be held after lunch in Marquette Park at 2:00 p.m.  Plan to attend to help us honor and commemorate the service of our local living and deceased veterans.

Please pass this information along to every veteran/veteran group that you know.  We look forward to hearing from you.  If you have questions call 815-666-7598.

Best wishes,
Dave Engaldo
