Vernon Curtis Griffith, 91 of Morrison, IL, died Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at Resthave Care & Rehabilitation, in Morrison.
Vernon was born on November 4, 1929, in Xenia, IL, the son of William and Nellie Mae (Barr) Griffith. He was a United States Army Veteran and served from 1951-1953. Vernon married Ruby Owen. She preceded him in death. He then married Shirley Hill on September 10, 1971, in Sterling, IL. Vernon worked as a Pipefitter at Northwestern Steel and Wire for 35 years and then worked at Wal-mart for 23 years.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley of Sterling; daughters, Angela Burks of Como, IL, Sherrie Saunders of Iowa, and Brenda (Darrel) Angier of Indiana; sons, Michael Griffith of Washington, IL, and Jeff (Sarah) Griffith of Texas; step-daughters, Sandy (Donald) Prescott of Morrison, Linda VanDusen of Sterling, Donna (Stan) Johnson of Lyndon, IL, Sarah Garcia of Princeton, IL, and Helen (DuWayne) Doane of Rock Falls, IL; step-sons, Joe (Angel) Clark of Texas and Harold (Anita) Clark of Kentucky; many grandchildren; several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Ruby; step-daughter, Karen Clark; step-son, Howard Lee Clark; son-in-law, George Burks; grandson, George Burks, Jr; nine siblings.
Cremation rites have been accorded with the McDonald Funeral Home and Crematory in Rock Falls, IL.
