John Sandford, author of 40 published novels, will sit down for a fireside chat on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at 7:00 p.m., just in time for the release of his latest Lucas Davenport novel, Ocean Prey.  Odell Public Library in Morrison, IL, was invited to join over 70 libraries in our region to bring this motivating program virtually, through Zoom.  Seats are limited, and registration must be made by Monday, April 12.  To register and receive the Zoom code number, go to https://forms.gle/fUMy23BjQ6d4qHyX6.

JohnSandfordJohn Sandford is actually a pseudonym for John Camp, whose books have all appeared on the New York Times Best-Seller lists.  He won the Pulitzer Prize in 1986 and the Distinguished Writing Award of American Newspaper Editors in 1985.

Camp is a native of Cedar Rapids, IA.  His maternal grandparents were immigrants from Lithuania.  He spent much of his younger life staying with them on the farm.  Sandford attended Washington Senior High School in Cedar Rapids, graduating in 1962.  He received a Bachelor’s degree in American Studies in 1966 and a Master’s degree in Journalism in 1971, both from the University of Iowa.

His journalism career began as an Army Reporter.  He has been both a Reporter and an Editor of the The Miami Herald and a Columnist for the St. Paul Pioneer Press.  During the last Iraq war, he was embedded with the 2-147 Air Assault Battalion.

His first book in the series of “Prey” books was Rules of Prey in 1989.
