Clinton Area Showboat Theatre is holding a Trivia Night on Friday, March 24, 2017. Proceeds from this fundraiser will benefit the Showboat’s 2017 professional Summer Productions, educational Intern Program, and summer camps for children. Registration begins at 6:00 p.m. with the contest starting at 7:00.
This event will take place at Gil’s Ballroom, 2750 S. 27th Street, in Clinton, IA. Teams should consist of six-to-eight members. Fees are $10 per person. Mulligans and doublers will be available for purchase along with a 50/50 raffle. Prizes will be awarded to the top teams.
Gil’s Ballroom will have a buffet dinner available beginning at 6:00 including non-meat options. Dinner is $10 for one trip through the buffet. There will also be drink specials all evening. No food or beverages may be brought in.
The Showboat Theatre 2017 Summer Season, “Hooray For Hollywood,” features shows that were big screen sensations. Season tickets are currently available at Clinton Printing, Wagner Pharmacies, and Sweet Woodruff. Tickets may also be purchased at www.clintonshowboat.org.
From Thursday, June 8, to Sunday, June 18, Disney’s “Newsies The Musical!” will be presented. This smash hit fresh from Broadway earned eight Tony nominations, including winning Best Choreography and Best Original Score. Next is Alfred Hitchcock’s classic, “Dial M For Murder.” This thriller had a Broadway run and will be on the Showboat stage from Thursday, June 22, through Saturday, July 1. Third is the iconic 80’s musical, “Footloose,” running Thursday, July 6, through Sunday, July 23. With four Tony nominations along with hit songs like “Footloose,” “Let’s Hear It for the Boy,” and “Holding Out for a Hero,” this musical became is a National classic. The last musical of the season, “The Bridges of Madison County,” is Jason Robert Brown’s musical. Nominated for four Tony Awards, it won Best Original Score and Orchestrations. This hometown musical is set in Iowa and will run from Thursday, July 27, through Sunday, August 6. The 2017 Summer Season comes to a close with a thrilling comedy. “The 39 Steps” was originally a serious spy film by Alfred Hitchcock. The stage adaptation is a screwball comedy comprised of four actors playing over 100 different characters! “The 39 Steps” will run from Thursday, August 10, through Saturday, August 19.
This year’s professional company of the Showboat Theatre will be introduced to area theatre-goers during “Hollywood Hits Follies” on Tuesday, June 13, at 7:30 p.m. The evening will provide some of the best songs from favorite movies. Matthew Teague Miller is Producing Artistic Director for the 2017 season.
Theatre for Young Audiences will showcase the CAST Intern Company. First will be “Madagascar, Jr.,” a musical adventure, performed at 11:00 a.m. on July 8, 15, and 22. Dr. Seuss’ “The Cat in the Hat” runs on July 29, August 2 and 5, at 11:00 a.m.
The 2017 Kids’ Camp will take place Monday, June 12, through Saturday, June 24. Students will prepare Disney’s “101 Dalmations, Kids”.
