Main Street Director Eileen Detra wants the surrounding communities to know that 2013 summer events are ongoing in Prophetstown, IL. Several opportunities to enjoy family activies are listed below.
Saturday, August 3, and Sunday, August 4 is the 8th Annual Pow-Wow at the Prophetstown State Park.
Beenah Un Dennah (Song of the Wind) is host drum. Rose Sanderson is the head woman dancer. Leonard Malatare will emcee. There will be lots of traders selling Native arts and crafts. Food vendors will have fry bread and Indian tacos. A blanket will be raffled off as well as many other items. Bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on and enjoy the fun. Saturday, August 10, is movie night for the whole family in Eclipse Memorial Park.
Bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy a movie under the stars, starting at dusk. The Avengers will be shown this year. With some popcorn, a chair, and the stars above, what more can you want! This film is presented by Prophetstown Main Street and IH Mississippi Valley Credit Union.
Saturday, Septemer 7, brings Arts on the Square and a Scarecrow Contest.
The public will judge both, and prizes for winners will be given. Main Street and Hardware Hank will have entry forms and contest rules. The categories for the scarecrows are Individual, Group, and Business. Use your imagination and talents. For more information call Main Street at 815-537-5139.
