Meagan Zahora is Morrison High School’s newest Choir Director.  She and her students are preparing for an enduring and important choral event this holiday season.

“Each winter, the Morrison High School Madrigal Singers host a dinner and a tea at a local church.  Audience members are able to travel back to the Renaissance Era while enjoying a delicious meal, [now] catered by “Darnell Dishes it Out.”  The Madrigal Singers and Actors [and Madrigal Brass] then put on a production full of music and comedy, all in traditional Renaissance costumes,” she explained.

This year, the Madrigal Dinner is being featured as part of Morrison’s Christmas Walk.  Once the parade is through on Saturday, December 7, 2013, community members can experience even more holiday cheer by participating in this musical production. The Madrigal Dinner will begin at 7:00 p.m. at Emmanuel Reformed Church, 202 E. Morris Street, Morrison, IL.

Zahora stated, “Guests will be able to warm and mingle as they enjoy Christmas carols and hot chocolate.  They will then be ushered into the Main Hall where the performance will begin!”

“The following day will see the same performance but a different spread of food.  The Madrigal Tea on Sunday, December 8, at 2:00 p.m., will feature Darnell’s delectable desserts with the encore performance.”

Tickets sales to both events will close Friday, November 22.  They are $20 a person for the dinner and $15 a person for the Tea.  Special rates are available upon request for those who purchase a table for eight:   $140 ($17.50 apiece) for the dinner and $100 ($12.50 each) for the tea.

Tickets can be purchased through Madrigal students or by calling Zahora at 815-772-4071, extension 2406, during school hours.
