Northside and Southside schools in Morrison, IL, participated in the 2013 United Way of Whiteside County “Pulling Together with Pennies” drive along with other schools in the County. Students in Morrison, Prophetstown, Rock Falls, Sterling, and Tampico, IL, collected 1,000,230 pennies–$10,002.30!
Pictured is Suzie Ottens and her second grade class at Northside Grade School, 520 N. Genesee Avenue. They won a popcorn party for their efforts raising the most pennies of all the classes at Northside school. These children raised 12,220 pennies–$122.20.
Susan Keime’s third grade class at Southside Grade School, 100 Academic Drive, raised 14,075 pennies–$140.75–to win a popcorn party.
A total of 93,980 pennies–$939.80–was raised by both Morrison elementary schools.
All monies collected in the penny drive help support 18 health and human service agencies, with 28 programs that serve people in Morrison.
