The United Way of Whiteside County (UWWC) relocated to a new office, at 100 W. First Street, Rock Falls, IL, on Friday, November 4, 2022. The first opportunity for the public to see the new office will be at the Rock Falls Chamber’s Hometown Holidays Christmas Walk, on Friday, November 18. For more than 30 years UWWC has called 502 1st Avenue, Sterling, IL, their home.
“The space has been a great option for us for many years,” stated CEO Keri Olson, “but the pandemic has taught us new ways of doing business….We just don’t need as much space.”
Heather Dunkel, owner of Build-A-Pet Clubhouse, purchased the United Way building. She noted, “We are excited to move into the United Way building. We will be able to offer our customers so much more, and the move is just a couple of blocks from our current location.”
Earlier this year the Board of Directors formed a committee to find a new office space. Kevin Anderson, UWWC Board President, said, “We looked at several properties that had potential, but many were not in an ideal location for us. Then we looked at the old CGH Clinic building in Rock Falls, and we realized it would be a great fit for United Way. The owner, Pete Harkness, was also very open to working with our non-profit organization. At that point, everything just fell into place.”
“United Way of Whiteside County has been serving our community for more than 75 years. We will continue the same work in our new location,” said Olson.
