The Morrison Fillies hosted the Sherrard, IL, Lady Tigers on Thursday, April 14, 2016, and earned a win. They only gathered two hits, but the MHS team showed clean fielding and a good pitching outing from Lauren Pannier. Final score was Morrison 2, Sherrard 1.
Lauren Vos collected one of the Fillies’ two hits in the first inning with a triple and eventually scored on a squeeze bunt by Brooke Stralow. The Fillies scored again in the second inning, when Emma Sitzmore reached second on an error and scored, following two fielder choices. Sitzmore recorded the other Fillie hit in the fourth inning, but failed to advance.
Pannier limited the Tigers to six hits in her six innings of work. She allowed the lone run when back-to-back doubles by Andersen and Behn pushed across the run in the sixth inning. Stralow closed the seventh inning with a ten-pitch effort to secure the 2-1 win.
