Whiteside County Deputies responded to a single vehicle roll-over crash on Sand Road north of Cordova Road, rural Erie, on Saturday, October 25, 2014. The vehicle was originally traveling southbound on Sand Road when it was apparent the driver lost control. After losing control, the vehicle slid into a bridge end and then flipped over landing upside down in a drainage ditch before it caught on fire. Both female occupants, age 16 of Erie, perished in the crash and were pronounced dead on scene.
The crash remains under investigation by the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with the Whiteside County Coroner’s Office.
